Tasting Notes

Gewürztraminer is a German variety that can be made in a range of styles…. As a bone-chilling dry light table wine, a semi-sweet afternoon quaffer, right through to a "stand your spoon up in it" sweet liquor. This style of this 2017 offering from Greenway Wines is on the sweeter end of the spectrum without going the full monty. It is designed to sit beautifully with light deserts and cheeseboards, especially those featuring blue cheese and dried fruit.

All Gewürztraminer shows amazing floral and Turkish delight or rosewater characters. This one is not exception…. That basis of the delightful bouquet is enhanced with hints of caramelized guava, marmalade and line. In the mouth, it is full and smooth, not cloying, but citrusy rich. The natural grape acid that holds the structure together like laces on a bodice, are fine and just on the fringes of a very full palate.
